    The 2026 Derby Will Remain at it's Original Format
* Entry Fee $40/rod
  • Each person in a boat must be signed up for the derby & purchase a ticket.
* You must sign up In-Person to enter
  • From 9am-Noon Friday, sign up at the Gateway Pavillion
  • From 12pm Friday through Sunday morning, sign up at the Seldovia Harbor Mastor​
* Cash prizes for biggest fish 
  • 3 Grand Prize Qualifying Categories:
    • Salmon
    • Halibut
    • Black Rock Bass
    • Gray Cod (New for 2024!)
  • Youth Category (12 years old & under) 
    • Smallest Greenling ​- sponsored by Coal Point Seafoods (Does not qualify entrant for the Grand Prize Boat)

*If you catch a fish from the 'Grand Prize Qualifying Categories' your name will be entered in the drawing for the Grand Prize Boat

*You must be present to win the Grand Prize Boat. Drawing will be held at 3:30 pm Sunday, May 24th at the Gateway Pavillion


* Weigh your own fish between 9 am Friday and 3 pm Sunday on the digital scale at the Seldovia Harbor Master's Office.

* Take a photo of YOU, the FISH, and the WEIGHT read-out on the scale & submit it electronically

Official Rules

  • All entrants must adhere to ADF&G Fishing Regulations
  • Boats entered can not have any type of motor installed.
  • All boats/entrants must leave from Seldovia Boat Harbor.
  • No fishing within the Seldovia Harbor or Seldovia Slough.
  • No fishing from a beach/shore.
  • Lines in Friday morning 9 am, lines out Sunday afternoon.
  • Fish must be weighed in by 3 pm Sunday
    • Fish may be weighed in during normal Harbor Master hours at any point during the derby.
  • Each person in a boat must be signed up for the derby & pay the $40 entry fee.
  • Cash prizes available for biggest Salmon, Halibut, Black Rock Bass
  • Cash prize available for SMALLEST Greenling caught by a youth (12 years old & under)
  • Camping/overnight trips are welcome and encouraged.
    • Entrants must travel under their own power for the duration of their trip.
    • No fishing from shore.
  • Spearfishing is welcome in this event.
    • All folks spearfishing must adhere to the same rules as pole fishing.
    • Spearfishers may 'shoredive' from a location after traveling there from the Seldovia Boat Harbor under their own power.
  • How To Qualify To Enter The Drawing For The Grand Prize Boat
    • ​Enter the 2026 Derby;
    • Catch a Salmon, Halibut, Black Rock Bass or Gray Cod (and submit a weigh-in photo, as described above); 
    • Entrants who qualify to enter into this year's drawing for the Grand Prize Boat will no longer receive entries for any previous years that they have qualified for the Grand Prize Boat drawing;
    • Maximum of 1 name in the pot per person.
    • You must be present to win the Grand Prize Boat. Drawing will be held at 3:30 pm Sunday, May 24th at the Gateway Pavillion;
    • You may only win a Grand Prize Boat once in a lifetime.
